Closing the Maternal Health Gap in West Orange

Healthier pregnancies create stronger families and thriving communities.

We recently welcomed community and health leaders to our first West Orange Maternal Health Collaborative Workshop!

The session brought together public, private, and nonprofit partners deeply engaged in maternal health work to shape strategies to better support expectant and new mothers in our community.

As important conversations about maternal health continue in various forums, this gathering offered a chance to connect across different sectors, align ongoing efforts, and focus on a shared, urgent goal: reducing low-birthweight births and enhancing maternal and infant health outcomes in our community.

According to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s County Health Rankings, low birthweight rates in Orange County continue to exceed the national average.

This Collaborative isn’t about starting over. It’s about identifying barriers, recognizing our collective strengths, and connecting the dots to develop actionable solutions.

Our vision is a community where moms have access to timely, high-quality prenatal care so every baby can have a healthy and stronger start. Thank you to everyone who joined us in this effort. We’re excited for what’s ahead.
