At the top of each year, Healthy West Orange organizes a month-long campaign to encourage our community to get moving through Westly’s Annual 5K. Whether residents decide to run, walk or bike, the effort focuses on elevating the importance of movement on our physical, mental, and emotional health.
The month-long virtual campaign culminates with an in-person event that coincides with Oakland Heritage Day, presented by Orlando Health, in partnership with Healthy West Orange and the Oakland Nature Preserve.
This year’s race attracted a record-breaking participation of more than 600 community members, making it the largest 5K race turnout to date. In one Saturday morning, friends and family collectively ran nearly 2,000 miles!
In addition to the race, attendees of the Heritage Day celebration had the opportunity to enjoy free games, fitness demonstrations, giveaways, and more health and wellness activities.
Fueled by the Foundation, Healthy West Orange is a grassroots movement to inspire west Orange County to become the healthiest community in the nation.
