Navigating Prenatal Care in West Orange County

Finding the right care during pregnancy can be hard on its own. Finding it while life’s obstacles are at their highest can feel impossible.  After losing her job and being evicted, Rosalind found herself in one of the toughest moments of her life. Not one to give up, she immediately started calling doctors’ offices to secure adequate care during her pregnancy.  What she found was a trail of closed doors. Without insurance, one office after another turned her away. No referrals. No next steps. The one option that might’ve worked was too far away.  "As a mom of two, having to do all that research on your own is hard," Rosalind says. 

West Orange Maternal Health Collaborative Launches Dashboard to Track and Improve Health Outcomes for Moms and Babies

The West Orange Maternal Health Collaborative — a network of physicians, midwives, community health centers, hospitals, nonprofit organizations, and local government partners — today announced the launch of its new Maternal Health Dashboard, a free, public tool that brings together local data on maternal and infant health outcomes, access to care, and community disparities in one place. Research continues to show that low-birthweight rates in Orange County continue to exceed the national average. The dashboard is designed to provide partners and residents a common, evidence-based view of where gaps exist and where the community’s resources can have the greatest impact.

This summer, we're celebrating the connections and community that Vibrant is strengthening across West Orange County. Designed to support the well-being and vitality of the 55+ community, Vibrant focuses on five core themes: Fit & Active, Social Events, Healthy Eating, Minds in Motion and Arts, Music & Theater.
