Ten years of Healthy Selfie brought more than 600 people of all ages to the West Orange Trail in September for the in-person 5K. Participants walked, ran and biked the 3.1-mile route together. The virtual 5K continued through Sept. 30, giving residents another way to take part throughout the month.
Residents marked the anniversary with the Healthy Selfie Photo Contest, sharing photos of how they stay active and make healthy choices, from cooking and gardening to walking, swimming, and biking.
Congratulations to this year’s photo contest winners!

The 10th anniversary also drew recognition from local leaders, including Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings and the Town of Oakland, who proclaimed Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, as West Orange Healthy Selfie Day. The proclamation recognized Healthy West Orange for inspiring healthy behaviors, providing resources to help residents make lifestyle changes, supporting health and wellness activities, and bringing health-minded organizations together.
In total, 1000 people participated in the 5K and Photo Contest as part of this year’s Healthy Selfie activities. A decade in, Healthy Selfie continues to bring West Orange residents together around health and wellness.
